Creating and releasing assembly drawings per construction step

Robin van Maasakker · 28 Oct 2026

With the Montage (Assembly) add-on (€59 per month per licence), Beamcore uses the IFC model of a project to create an assembly drawing per construction step: a top view with dimensions from the grid lines and a 3D model up to and including that step. You find it in the Montage (Assembly) tab of a project. The admin, drafter and planner roles can see the tab; the admin and drafter roles can release steps and change the order. The Beamcore interface is in Dutch, so button and menu names are shown in Dutch with a translation.

The IFC model

If you also have the Productie (Production) add-on, Assembly uses the IFC model you chose in the Productie (Production) tab. Without Production, you see the IFC-model (IFC model) card in the Assembly tab:

  1. First upload the IFC file under Documenten (Documents) of the project.
  2. In the Assembly tab, click IFC-model kiezen (Choose IFC model), choose the file under IFC-bestand (IFC file) and click Verwerken (Process). The card refreshes by itself while processing runs.
  3. Ander IFC-model kiezen (Choose another IFC model) replaces the model later, Opnieuw verwerken (Process again) rebuilds the steps.

The construction steps

Beamcore divides the building into steps in a fixed order: ground floor sole plates, ground floor, ground floor walls, and per storey the storey floor, the wall plates and the walls. After that come flat roof, roof elements, other elements and loose delivery. A step only appears if it contains something. At the very bottom is the Totaal-montagetekening (Overall assembly drawing): the whole building, all steps together.

If the order is not right for this project, move a step with the Eerder (Earlier) or Later arrows. Standaardvolgorde (Default order) restores the fixed order.

The assembly drawing

Click a step to open the drawing. You see an A3 sheet with the top view of that step in colour, the steps below it in grey, grid lines A and 1 and dimensions all around from the intersection of the grid lines. On the right are the element list, the 3D model up to and including this step and the title block.

  • Click an element to see its details and the Aansluitende elementen (Adjoining elements), with an enlarged detail per connection. The element also lights up in 3D.
  • With Meten (Measure) you click a start point and an end point. Beamcore snaps to corners and edges. Hold Shift for a horizontal or vertical measurement and press Esc to stop. Maten wissen (Clear measurements) removes your measurements.
  • Scroll to zoom and drag to pan. Passend (Fit) fits the sheet again, Volledig scherm (Full screen) and Volledig scherm 3D (Full screen 3D) give the drawing or the model the whole screen.

PDF deze stap (PDF this step) and PDF alle stappen (PDF all steps) download the sheets as PDF. 3D-model bekijken (View 3D model) opens the whole model in the IFC viewer.

Releasing for assembly

The assembly crew only sees a step once you release it. In the step, click Klaarzetten voor montage (Release for assembly), or release everything at once with Alles klaarzetten (Release all). A released step gets the label ready. Terugtrekken (Withdraw) takes a step away from assembly again.

If you process a new version of the IFC model, assembly keeps seeing the released version until you release the step again. You then see a message that assembly still sees an older revision of the step.
