A composition (samenstelling) is a group of timber frame elements that the factory turns into one whole. Think of a dormer or a corner wall. Beamcore gives each composition a number per project: SE-001, SE-002 and so on. An element can be in one composition at most. Loose material cannot be added.
You work with compositions in the Samenstellingen (Compositions) tab of a project. You need the Productie (Production) add-on and a processed IFC model in the Productie (Production) tab. The admin, drafter and planner roles can see the tab. The admin and drafter roles can create, change and release compositions. The Beamcore interface is in Dutch, so button and menu names are shown in Dutch with a translation.
Creating a composition
- Click Nieuwe samenstelling (New composition). A workspace with three columns opens.
- The elements are on the left. Search by number or group and tick what belongs together. You can also click an element in the 3D model in the middle. Chosen elements turn orange. An element that is already in another composition is light grey and cannot be chosen.
- On the right, fill in the Naam (Name) and the Type: Dakkapel (Dormer), Hoekwand (Corner wall), Dakconstructie (Roof construction) or Overig (Other). You see the outer dimensions, the estimated weight and the number of elements and parts right away.
- Click Samenstelling aanmaken (Create composition). The composition gets the status Concept (Draft).
If everything is right, click Vrijgeven (Release). Terug naar concept (Back to draft) sets it back. If you change a released composition with Wijzigen (Change), it gets a new revision and goes back to draft.
Automatic detection
With Automatisch herkennen (Detect automatically), Beamcore looks for elements that touch each other in the IFC model, are in the same group or have the same number series. A group of more than 8 elements or wider than 12 m is never suggested. Not everything that touches belongs together, so confirm each suggestion yourself. For each suggestion you choose:
- Bekijk in 3D (View in 3D): the elements in the IFC viewer.
- Selecteer onderdelen (Select parts): the form is filled in, so you can still adjust it.
- Samenstelling aanmaken (Create composition): create it right away.
- Negeren (Ignore): the suggestion does not come back for this project.
The shared work drawing
Open a composition in the list and click Werktekening (PDF) (Work drawing (PDF)). You get an A3 drawing with a front view, a side view, a top view and a 3D overview, with the overall dimensions. It also shows the element numbers, the positions per element, a suggested assembly order and the connection dimensions between the elements. Sheet 2 has the sections A-A and B-B. The top view shows where those sections are cut.
The IFC model contains no fasteners. Beamcore does not make them up. As long as there is no detail, the drawing says that the fastening detail is missing. Click Detail koppelen (Link detail) to choose an existing drawing from the project or write an instruction.
Each element in a composition gets a blue block on its production drawing with the sentence that it is joined with the other elements, and the link Bekijk samenstellingstekening (View composition drawing). 3D bekijken (View 3D) opens the composition in the IFC viewer.
