Capacity settings: hours per working day, public holidays and teams

Robin van Maasakker · 13 Oct 2026

A few settings apply to the whole company: how many hours a working day counts, when someone counts as almost full or overloaded, which days are off and which teams you have. You find them on their own tab in the company settings. The Beamcore interface is in Dutch, so button and menu names are shown in Dutch with a translation.

Where to find the settings

Go to Bedrijf → Bedrijfsinstellingen (Company → Company settings) and open the tab Medewerkers & capaciteit (Employees & capacity). The tab is only visible if you are allowed to view company settings and have the permission Medewerkers, roosters en afwezigheid beheren (Manage employees, schedules and absence). The settings apply to the capacity planning and to the page Medewerkers & beschikbaarheid (Employees & availability).

Hours per working day

The field Uren per werkdag (Hours per working day) determines the working time for employees without a schedule of their own, from Monday up to and including Friday. By default that is 8 hours. If an employee has their own default schedule, that schedule takes precedence. How to set that up is explained in Employees, schedules and absence.

Utilisation thresholds

Two percentages determine the colours in the capacity planning:

  • Bijna vol vanaf (Almost full from): from this percentage a week turns orange. Default 90%.
  • Overbelast boven (Overloaded above): above this percentage a week turns red. Default 100%.

The threshold for overloaded may not be below the threshold for almost full. The legend in the capacity planning always shows the percentages you have set here. You can read more about the colours in Reading the capacity planning.

National public holidays

Under Landelijke feestdagen die bij ons vrij zijn (National public holidays that we have off) you tick which public holidays are days off at your company. On a ticked day nobody has available hours. You choose from:

  • Nieuwjaarsdag (New Year's Day)
  • Goede Vrijdag (Good Friday)
  • Eerste en Tweede Paasdag (Easter Sunday and Easter Monday)
  • Koningsdag (King's Day)
  • Bevrijdingsdag (Liberation Day)
  • Hemelvaartsdag (Ascension Day)
  • Eerste en Tweede Pinksterdag (Whit Sunday and Whit Monday)
  • Eerste en Tweede Kerstdag (Christmas Day and Boxing Day)

By default all days are on, except Goede Vrijdag and Bevrijdingsdag. Those two count as a normal working day until you tick them.

Own days off and exceptions

Does your company have its own days off, such as a bridge day or a collective closure? Add them under Eigen vrije dagen en uitzonderingen (Own days off and exceptions):

  1. Click Dag toevoegen (Add day).
  2. Choose the Datum (Date) and fill in an Omschrijving (Description).
  3. Leave Vrije dag (Day off) switched on for a day on which nobody works.

If you switch Vrije dag off, you create an exception instead: a public holiday on which your company works as normal. Each date can only be in the list once.

Teams or departments

Under Teams of afdelingen (Teams or departments) you manage the teams your employees belong to. Click Team toevoegen (Add team) and fill in a Naam (Name). Each team name may only occur once. On the page Medewerkers & beschikbaarheid you link an employee to a team and filter the list by team.

If your company uses time tracking with weekly submission, you also choose a Goedkeurder van uren (Approver of hours) per team. If you leave that empty, the administrators approve the hours.

Saving

Click Instellingen voor medewerkers opslaan (Save employee settings) at the bottom. A team or day off that you remove from the list is deleted when you save. If you get the message Niet opgeslagen (Not saved), also check the other tabs: on saving, the form checks all tabs at once.
