The composition check

Robin van Maasakker · 29 Oct 2026

A composition consists of several timber frame elements that together form one prefab construction, such as a dormer or a corner wall. With the composition check you check the complete composition. It is a normal quality registration in Wkb & quality assurance, with the number of the composition (for example SE-001) instead of an element number. You need the Productie (Production) and Wkb & Kwaliteitsborging (Wkb & quality assurance) add-ons. The Beamcore interface is in Dutch, so button and menu names are shown in Dutch with a translation.

A checklist for compositions

  1. Go to Wkb & Kwaliteitsborging → Controlelijsten (Wkb & quality assurance → Checklists). Click Voorbeeldlijsten overnemen (Copy example lists) to get the list Samenstelling (Composition), or create your own list with Nieuwe controlelijst (New checklist).
  2. Under Soort controle (Type of check), choose Samenstelling (meerdere elementen samen) (Composition (several elements together)).
  3. Optionally choose a Type samenstelling (Composition type: dormer, corner wall, roof construction or other) and a project under Alleen voor project (Only for project). Empty means every composition and every project.

Beamcore picks the most specific list: first project and type together, then only the project, then only the type, then a list for every composition.

The example list Samenstelling (Composition) has these points at the final check: all elements present, elements positioned correctly, connections checked, prescribed fasteners applied, overall dimensions correct and reinforcements fitted (not required). At release for transport it has lifting points checked and composition ready for transport. A photo is required for elements positioned correctly, connections checked and lifting points checked.

Checking a composition

  1. Open the project and go to the Samenstellingen (Compositions) tab. Open the composition.
  2. Click Samenstellingscontrole (Composition check). You arrive in the quality file of the composition, with the composition, the type, the elements and the status. Under the production drawing, Werktekening samenstelling (Composition working drawing) opens the working drawing.
  3. Click Kwaliteitsregistratie starten (Start quality registration) if it has not started yet.
  4. Check the points as you would for an element: Goedgekeurd (Approved), Afgekeurd (Rejected) or N.v.t. (Not applicable), with photos and an explanation where needed.

Deviations, photos and internal release work the same as for an element. A composition has its own revision. A new IFC revision therefore does not set the composition check to recheck needed.

Who can do what

With the default roles, admin and workshop can check the points. Only an admin can manage checklists and release internally.
