As soon as a timber list has been read in, Beamcore distributes the cut pieces over your stock lengths. The result is the cutting plan: per cross-section which pieces come from which bar. You do not have to make the cutting plan yourself; you steer it with two settings and adjust the requirement where needed. The Beamcore interface is in Dutch, so button and menu names are shown in Dutch with a translation.
Viewing the cutting plan
- Open the project and go to the Productie & materiaal (Production & material) tab.
- In the Materiaal (Material) table, click Zaagplan (Cutting plan) next to an item.
You see how many pieces of which length are needed, the total leftover length and a table with the columns Staven (Bars), Zaagstukken per staaf (mm) (Cut pieces per bar, mm) and Rest (mm) (Leftover, mm). On the check page of a timber list you find the same under Zaagplan bekijken (View cutting plan). It also contains the block Winst van de verdeling (Gain from the distribution): what distributing over several stock lengths yields compared with one length per cross-section.
What the distribution optimises for
Under Bedrijf → Bedrijfsinstellingen (Company → Company settings), Houtvoorraad (Timber stock) tab, there are two settings that determine the cutting plan. Save them with Houtvoorraad-standaarden opslaan (Save timber stock defaults).
- Zaagverdeling optimaliseren op (Optimise cutting distribution for): choose Minste rest (Least leftover), Minste staven (Fewest bars) or Liefst uit voorraad (Preferably from stock). Minste rest distributes the cut pieces over all your stock lengths and is the default. Liefst uit voorraad first uses what is free in stock, even if that gives more leftover. That is useful when there is a rush.
- Zaagsnede (mm) (Saw kerf, mm): the width of the saw cut that is included between the cut pieces in a bar. If you enter nothing, Beamcore calculates with 5 mm.
Per timber list you can deviate from the company default. On the check page, under Standaarden voor deze lijst (Defaults for this list), choose a different value for Zaagverdeling optimaliseren op and save; Beamcore then recalculates the requirement.
Issuing material
Issuing books the timber off the stock at the moment it goes to production. The button is there as soon as the project has reservations. You need the Houtlijst importeren, reserveren en uitgeven (Import timber list, reserve and issue) permission.
- In the Materiaal table, click Materiaal uitgeven (Issue material).
- Per item, enter the quantity under Uit te geven (To issue).
- Switch on Regel afsluiten (Close line) if the project needs nothing more of that item.
- If you work with locations, check the Verdeling over locaties (Distribution over locations). Beamcore makes a proposal; adjust it if you take the timber from somewhere else. The quantities must add up to the quantity to issue.
- If offcuts are switched on, enter under Reststukken terugmelden (Report offcuts back) what is usable and left over after cutting.
- Click Uitgeven (Issue).
If you use less than was reserved, the rest falls back into the free stock. You can read more about offcuts in Registering and reserving offcuts.
The Material planning page
Voorraadbeheer → Materiaalplanning (Stock management → Material planning) shows the material status of all your ongoing projects side by side. You need the Materiaalplanning per project bekijken (View material planning per project) permission.
- The tiles count the total number of projects, the projects that are fully in stock, the projects where ordering is still needed and the shortages without an order.
- In the Projecten (Projects) list you search by project name or project number and filter by status: Tekort, nog te bestellen (Shortage, still to be ordered), Deels beschikbaar of besteld (Partly available or ordered), Compleet voor productie (Complete for production) or Uitgegeven (Issued). Per project you also see whether the timber list is final, provisional or not yet uploaded.
- Click a project for the details. The Kopmaat en lengte (Cross-section and length) tab shows per item what is needed, reserved, free and on order. The Bestellijst (Order list) tab shows what still has to be ordered and where it is cheapest.
At the bottom is the Bestelvoorstel (Order proposal) block. How you turn that into an order is explained in Orders and the daily order proposal.
