Registering and reserving offcuts

Robin van Maasakker · 13 Oct 2026

After cutting there is often a piece left that is long enough to use later. With offcuts you keep track of those lengths as separate stock, alongside your stock lengths. The feature belongs to the Houtvoorraad & Materiaalplanning (Timber stock & Material planning) add-on and is off by default. The Beamcore interface is in Dutch, so button and menu names are shown in Dutch with a translation.

Switching on offcuts

  1. Go to Bedrijf → Bedrijfsinstellingen (Company → Company settings) and open the Houtvoorraad (Timber stock) tab.
  2. Under Reststukken instellingen (Offcut settings), switch on Reststukken registreren (Register offcuts).
  3. Under Minimale bewaarmaat (mm) (Minimum length to keep, mm), enter from which length a piece is worth keeping. Everything shorter counts as waste and is not registered. If you enter nothing, the limit is 500 mm.
  4. Click Reststukken-instellingen opslaan (Save offcut settings).

After that the menu Voorraadbeheer → Reststukken (Stock management → Offcuts) appears and you can report offcuts back when issuing material.

If you switch it off again later, ongoing projects are converted immediately: planned offcuts go to extra bars and all reservations on offcuts are released. After that you no longer see offcuts anywhere.

Reporting an offcut back

Reporting back can be done in two places. On the Reststukken page you need the Artikelen en voorraad beheren (correctie, telling) (Manage items and stock: correction, count) permission for this, when issuing the Houtlijst importeren, reserveren en uitgeven (Import timber list, reserve and issue) permission.

  • On the Reststukken page: click Terugmelden (Report back), choose under Van artikel (From item) the item the piece comes from and enter Lengte (mm) (Length, mm) and Aantal (Quantity). The cross-section follows from the chosen item.
  • When issuing material: the Materiaal uitgeven (Issue material) window on a project contains the block Reststukken terugmelden (Report offcuts back). Beamcore makes a proposal based on the cutting plan; adjust it to what is actually there. See Creating a cutting plan and issuing material.

Reading the overview

The Reststukken page shows per cross-section and length the Aantal, what is Gereserveerd (Reserved), what is Vrij (Free), which project the piece comes from and when it was last reported back. With the filters Alleen wat er nog ligt (Only what is still there), Alleen vrij (Only free) and Kopmaat (Cross-section) you make the list shorter.

Reserving and releasing

For reserving and releasing you need the Houtlijst importeren, reserveren en uitgeven permission.

  1. Click Reserveren (Reserve) next to an offcut. The button is only there if something is still free.
  2. Under Voor project (For project), choose the project and enter the Aantal.

If less is free than you ask for, Beamcore reserves what is free and reports that. With Vrijgeven (Release) you remove a reservation again: choose the project whose reservation you are releasing.

When you make a timber list final or choose Reserveer voor project (Reserve for project) on a project, Beamcore includes available offcuts in the distribution. The cutting plan then shows under Uit reststukken (From offcuts) which cut pieces come from which offcut. If planned offcuts are no longer available in the meantime, you see the Opnieuw verdelen (Redistribute) button on the project. It recalculates the cut pieces to whole bars.

Correcting and disposing

  • Corrigeren (Correct): if the quantity is not right, enter the difference under Aantal erbij (+) of eraf (-) (Quantity to add (+) or remove (-)) with a required Reden (Reason).
  • Afvoeren (Dispose): if an offcut goes to waste after all, enter the Aantal and optionally a note. The pieces are taken off the offcut stock.

Both actions require the Artikelen en voorraad beheren (correctie, telling) permission.
