Creating and checking the cutting list from the IFC model

Robin van Maasakker · 29 Oct 2026

Beamcore creates a cutting list of all beams in the IFC model of your project. You find it in the Materiaal (Material) tab of the project, under Zaaglijsten (Cutting lists). You need the Houtvoorraad & Materiaalplanning (Timber stock & material planning) add-on and a processed IFC model. You choose that model in the Productie (Production) tab. Viewing requires the right to see material; generating and correcting require the right to manage material. By default the admin and drafter roles have both. The Beamcore interface is in Dutch, so button and menu names are shown in Dutch with a translation.

Generating a cutting list

  1. Open the project and go to the Materiaal (Material) tab, section Zaaglijsten (Cutting lists).
  2. Click Zaaglijst genereren (Generate cutting list) and confirm. Beamcore reads all beams from the current IFC model.
  3. The list gets a revision number, such as Rev 01. Every time you generate, you create a new revision. Earlier revisions and their PDF are kept.

Per revision the list shows the Revisie (Revision), the IFC-revisie (IFC revision), the number of Balken (Beams), how many beams have Controle vereist (Check required), who created the list and the date. If the IFC model has changed in the meantime, you see that above the list. The button is then called Nieuwe revisie genereren (Generate new revision).

What is in the cutting list

Only beams are included, each part of the IFC model exactly once. Sheets and electrical parts are not. Beamcore does not make up sizes. A beam gets Controle vereist (Check required) when:

  • the length is not in the production data and was only derived from the shape;
  • the cutting length is missing;
  • the cross-section is not in the production data.

If the IFC model has no material, Beamcore shows Vuren (spruce) with a note. Cutting angles are included when the IFC model provides them.

Viewing the cutting list

Click Bekijken (View) for a revision. At the top you see the Balken (Beams), Unieke onderdelen (Unique parts), Strekkende meters (Linear metres) and the number with Controle vereist (Check required). Choose a view:

  • Per HSB-element (Per timber frame element): the beams per element.
  • Per materiaalafmeting (Per material size): the beams per cross-section.
  • Totaal project (Project total): everything together.

Search by element, beam number, size or material. Filter with Alle typen (All types), Alle bouwlagen (All storeys), Alle materialen (All materials), Alle doorsneden (All cross-sections) and Alle statussen (All statuses). Identical beams are combined. A beam with Check required always stays on its own line. At the bottom you see the linear metres per cross-section.

Together with the IFC viewer

Click a beam number to see the beam in the IFC viewer. Click element to isolate the whole timber frame element. If the model is already open in another tab, that tab selects the beam. If you click a beam in the IFC viewer, the line in the cutting list is highlighted. Wissen (Clear) removes the highlight.

Comparing with the previous revision

Bekijken (View) also shows what changed compared with the previous revision. You see the Nieuwe balken (New beams), Verwijderde balken (Removed beams), Gewijzigde balken (Changed beams) and what is Ongewijzigd (Unchanged). For a changed beam you see what is different: length, cross-section, material or cutting angle. Below that is the number of pieces per cross-section in both revisions.

Correcting a beam

  1. Click Balk corrigeren (Correct beam) for a revision and choose the Balk (Beam). Beams with Check required are at the top.
  2. Only fill in what needs to change: Zaaglengte (mm) (Cutting length), Dikte (mm) (Thickness), Breedte (mm) (Width), Materiaal (Material), Sterkteklasse (Strength class), Zaaghoek (Cutting angle) or Speciale zaagbewerking (Special cutting operation). An empty field keeps the value from the IFC model.
  3. Leave Balk is gecontroleerd (Beam has been checked) on if the beam is right. It is then no longer on Check required, unless the length or cross-section is still missing.
  4. Fill in the Reden (Reason). It is required.

The data from the IFC model stays unchanged. Your correction is stored separately with your name, the date and the reason. You see it under Bekijken (View) in Handmatige correcties (Manual corrections). The overviews, the comparison and the PDF use the corrected values. In a new revision a correction is only carried over if the beam in the IFC model has not changed.

Downloading the PDF

Click Download PDF for a revision. You get an A4 landscape document with the cutting list of that revision, with page numbers and a summary.
