Choosing an IFC model and viewing the elements

Robin van Maasakker · 22 Oct 2026

With the Productie (Production) add-on (€99 per month per production line) you import the IFC model from your drawing software and Beamcore splits it into elements with their beams and sheets. You find everything in the Productie (Production) tab of a project. The admin, drafter and planner roles can see the tab; clients and contractors cannot. An admin can choose, reprocess or delete an IFC model. The Beamcore interface is in Dutch, so button and menu names are shown in Dutch with a translation.

Choosing the IFC model

  1. First upload the IFC export under Documenten (Documents) of the project, in the folder you want.
  2. Go to the Productie (Production) tab and click IFC-model kiezen (Choose IFC model).
  3. Choose the file under IFC-bestand (IFC file) and click Verwerken (Process). The model is processed on the server; while that runs, the card refreshes by itself.

Revisions

A project has one IFC model. If you upload a new version of the same file under Documents, it automatically becomes a new revision. To use a different file, click Ander IFC-model kiezen (Choose another IFC model). As soon as the new revision has been processed, it replaces the previous one. If processing failed, you see the reason on the card. Opnieuw verwerken (Process again) processes the model again, for example after you have changed the zones or element types.

IFC verwijderen (Delete IFC) removes the model from production. The file itself stays under Documents, and texts on the drawing, planning and quality registrations are kept. If elements have been released for the factory, Beamcore first asks you to confirm that the factory will no longer see them afterwards.

Elements

After processing you see the elements of the model, such as walls, floors and roofs, with their number, group and type. Filter with Alle groepen (All groups), Alle typen (All types) and Alle statussen (All statuses). Click Bekijken (View) to open an element; Vorige (Previous) and Volgende (Next) take you through the elements. Hele model (Whole model) opens the complete IFC model in the IFC viewer.

Zones

The parts of an element sit in zones, such as the framing (zone 0), the inner sheets and the outer sheets. In the 3D view you switch each zone on or off under Zones. Alleen deze (Only this one) shows just that zone, Alles aan (All on) shows everything again.

Setting up zones and element types

Under Bedrijf → Bedrijfsinstellingen (Company → Company settings), tab Productie (Production), you set per company what the zones are called and which colour they get, and which prefix in the element number belongs to which type (for example wall, floor or roof). If you leave the lists empty, the default settings apply. A change applies to revisions you process (again) afterwards.
