Setting warning limits, margins and internal rates

Robin van Maasakker · 29 Oct 2026

Under Projectfinanciën → Instellingen (Project finance → Settings) you decide when a project turns orange or red on the dashboard, and you set the internal rates for production. Everyone with access to Project finance sees the settings. Only those who may manage Project finance can change them. The Beamcore interface is in Dutch, so button and menu names are shown in Dutch with a translation.

Limits and margins

Click Instellingen wijzigen (Change settings) and fill in:

  • Waarschuwingsgrens begroting (Budget warning limit): orange as soon as the actual costs reach this share of the budget. Empty is 90%.
  • Standaard winstmarge (Standard profit margin): orange if the expected margin falls below it. Empty is not used.
  • Minimale marge (Minimum margin): red if the expected margin falls below it. Empty is not used.

Over budget is always red. A project without an approved budget gets no colour, because the expected outcome is then unknown. The profit margin is the contract value minus the expected final costs, divided by the contract value, times 100%. That is different from a mark-up on the cost price.

Internal rates

In the same form you set the rates Beamcore uses to calculate production costs. Everything excludes VAT.

  • Intern uurtarief productie (Internal production hourly rate): costs per labour hour at the production table. Empty is no amount per element.
  • Machine-uurtarief (Machine hourly rate): costs per hour a table is active, for machines and tools. Empty is not counted.
  • Algemene kostenopslag (General overhead mark-up): a mark-up on top of the production costs for indirect costs. Empty is no mark-up.

Without a rate Beamcore calculates no amount: a rate is never made up. You only see the rates if you may manage Project finance or may see salary and rates. They are used in the Production costs per element report, in the post-calculation per composition and for the automatic production costs.

More in the settings

Below the rates there are two more blocks: Uren per kostencategorie (Hours per cost category), where you link parts to a cost category, and Kosten automatisch uit andere modules (Costs automatically from other modules), where you let production and transport costs count automatically. How they work is explained in the article on registering costs and the post-calculation.
